FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The King’s House Hotel in Flagstaff, Arizona announced today that it is now a Green Suites® Certified Green Hotel. The King’s House is a designated Historic Hotel with a retro Route 66 feel with all the modern amenities.   The 4-Leaf rating awarded by Green Suites® International, the industry's leading environmental hotel product and program supplier, marks with distinction the hotel's commitment to environmentally sound business practices. The Green Suites® Green Hotel Certification Program recognizes a hotel’s environmental policies and purchasing.

Achieving 4-Leaf status is no small task. “There are currently only seven 4-Leaf hotels in the country, so this is a great honor for the King’s House Hotel,” says Dan Bornholdt, President of Green Suites® International.

The King’s House Hotel’s success in Green Hotel Certification is an indication of its eagerness to pioneer a practical approach to hotel management that is sensitive to the needs of customers while protecting the environment. Guests appreciate the steps a hotel takes to be environmentally friendly, and they experience tangible benefits during their stay.

A big part of how the King’s House Hotel became eligible for their Green Hotel Certification is their participation in Green Suites®’ EcoRoom® Accommodations Program. EcoRoom® Accommodations feature more than a dozen different environmental products including compact fluorescent light bulbs; low-flow showerheads and sink faucets; nightlights; digital thermostats; non-toxic cleaning chemicals; Nature’s Mist all-natural odor neutralizer; a linen reuse program; and lotion and liquid soap products dispensed from refillable containers in the shower and at the sink.

“EcoRoom® Accommodations products are good for the guest, good for the Earth and good for the hotel’s bottom line,” Bornholdt said. “The products are energy efficient, water efficient, waste reducing, non-toxic and biodegradable.”

Green Suites®’ Green Hotel Certification program aims to recognize hotels for the positive green initiatives they’ve performed, while simultaneously challenging the hotels’ competitors to step up their environmental performance. “Collectively, there are many properties at which the management have a strong personal motivation to produce results – they care and they can take action quickly to generate sizable ecological benefits, without a lot of corporate bureaucracy or hierarchy,” explains Mr. Bornholdt. “Those are the properties we relish working with—the ones who put a face to their impact on guests, employees and the community. Caring for those issues naturally improves the global and local ecology.”

In an era when environmental consciousness is increasing in response to greater demands on our environment, green initiatives are vital to maintaining social responsibility in all industries, and the hospitality sector is no exception. As a Green Suites® Certified Green Hotel, the King’s House Hotel is ahead of the curve in recognizing this and putting green values into practice.
